To know me is to love me
Mr H in my band was quoted as saying this unique sentence not two weeks ago. He can be forgetful at times, and it was on one of these forgetful occasions that I found it appropriate to call him a doofus - to which he gave said reply. It´s been churning over in my mind ever since.
Turning the sentence into very simple English, we can come up with this suggestion: If you know me, then you´ll love me - or if you accept me for who I am, you´ll love me. It´s a thinker isn´t it?
These are the questions this curious saying brings to mind: How easy is it to really get to know someone? Are we good at accepting the people closest to us? Do we love people for who they are?
What if I change the words around: To love me is to know me? I believe this can mean something slightly different: To show love to me, or make me feel loved by you, I need to know that you want to get to know all of me - not just the outward part. I want to be known intimately by you and all that entails.
If we´re honest we all want to be 100% known and loved at the same time. This is how it was meant to be.
Conclusion? I don´t know - I´ll have to get back to you on this one.

I don't think we truly ever know someone completely and they will never know us completely. But the Bible says that "there is one who is closer than a brother". I find that very comforting especially since He knows everything (the good, the bad & the ugly)& still accepts me!
I have loved you imperfectly for 35 years, and will continue to do so no matter what. It is a pleasure to get to know you better. I also know the ones who love you more than I do.
