Love is a powerful thing. Conclusion.
Some of you know what it's like to have your heart broken.
It can feel like an all consuming, endless burning ache deep inside the stomach. It's not something I would wish on anyone.
I'm going to tell you something now, but you have to promise not to tell anyone else.
I recently had my heart broken by someone who I thought really cared about me. It was awful.
I poured my love and care into person X, and they took my love, chewed on it, sucked the life out of it and spat it out. They don't care about my love, nor the love I gave.

All this has really made me think about real love. I have come to the conclusion that hate is not the opposite of love - selfishness is. As I said on my last entry, I believe that love is:
Finding out what people around you really need (especially the people closest to you) - and giving it to them, regardless of what you are comfortable with. (Quote from Joyce Meyer.)
Let's talk about real love. We've already covered these words:
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails.
Let's take a look at what real love actually looks like:
John 15:13
Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.
and:
1 John 3:16
This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers.
Read this medical report about what Jesus went through on the cross.
DEATH BY CRUCIFIXION : SLOW SUFFOCATION
*Shallowness of breathing causes small areas of lung collapse.
*Decreased oxygen and increased carbon dioxide causes acidic conditions in the tissues.
*Fluid builds up in the lungs.
*Heart is stressed and eventually fails.
(Psalm 22:14 I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint. My heart has turned to wax; it has melted away within me.)
Jesus died of a broken heart.
He gave us something we definitely didn't deserve. He took one look at us and gave us what we really needed instead of what He was comfortable with - unconditional love and a way to the Father.
It cost Him everything.
I am speechless as I think about what the most selfless man who ever lived did for me. He knows how we feel when we get our hearts broken. He loves us so much. He died on the cross through choice. He did it because His heart was full of compassion for us.
This is the truth:
Love is a powerful thing.

Thank you Katrine.
jUST TESTING...
It worked! (Have never blogged before...)
Just wanted to say that what you have written about LOVE is so true! I believe that God is LOVE and that the devil does not have any love in him (or in his work and actions). I actually believe that Jesus (=LOVE) died on the cross by His own choise - He choosed to die for US! And by that He did the ulimate act of love. Unconditional love! And (here comes my point): by LOVING US Jesus won over the devil! Not by anything but pure love. The devil cannot stand love, I think. So he probably drowned when LOVE consumed him, or something like that. Anyway - I have realised in my life, that PURE LOVE often is the best form of spiritual warfer. Blessing people even when you do not feel like it! So I agree with what Joyce Meyer says. Go Katrine! You are full of wisdom from God! I enjoy it everytime I talk to you. You have soooo much to offer to people around you - in fact, to this world! Put your light up on a mountain - so everybody can see it! LOVE you, sister!
