Things I can't change.
It's Autumn in Norway now. That can only mean one thing.....winter is just around the corner. This always puts me in pensive mood as I reflect on the inevitable, I can't prevent change. Winter in Hedmark (The county I live in in Norway), scares me. I'm just not used to it being so cold and, quite frankly, new things scare me. The roads are icy, I tend to slip all over the place whilst countless Norwegians point and laugh at me. My face stings as the sub-zero wind drains me of any kind of warmth I once felt. Also, people tend to hide away. I think they must be at home, gently thawing infront of the fire, cracking off bits of their limbs that have been eaten up by frost-bite, slurping hot chocolate whilst donning their entire wardrobe - just to stay warm. It's not that I'm ungrateful for winter too. Norway is probably one of the most beautiful countries in the world in every season. It's just so very, very cold. At least around here.
Change is a scary thing isn't it. One minute you're surrounded by people you know, familiar sights and gallons of nostalgia. The next minute, you're standing in the middle of Hamar (the town we live in in Norway), wearing a hat, 2 pairs of gloves, un-sexy tights, a huuuge coat, and a scarf that covers your face to such extent that people presume you've convertet to being an orthodox Muslim.
I know there's nothing I can do about winter arriving in all its glory, but I'm not keen on change. Summer is so relaxing and gorgeous. Winter is unpredictable and scary. I supposed there's really only one solution (apart from booking the first flight to Barbados first thing tomorrow morning). I must dress up, man-up (so to speak) and face the mighty winter. After all, they do say that a change is as good as a rest. (But they're lying.)
Here are some gorgeous pictures of what I am experiencing now in God's lush wilderness that is Norway....and what's just around the corner.

Those photographs of yours look truly splendid! Or, might I say, marvelous!
Utterly lovely.
Although my heart of course deeply belongs to the land of Israel...I have to admit too- that Norway truly is one of the most breathtaking places on this planet. I'm convinced that that's where God likes to just hang out because of it's amazing beauty.
Mind you now, I was there from April-August. And although there was still some snow in the south in April...and I still needed a sweater at night in August while in the north... I did manage to escape it's infamous winter. I can NOT imagine what I would do when Norway is covered in it's deep blanket of white.
I think you should immediately invest in bright, fabulous, obnoxious colors and patterns of scarfs, tights, gloves, hats, etc. And mis-match them everytime you go out- to not only bring joy and brightness to your own heart- but to those around you who laugh and point and wonder if you got dressed in the dark.
AND- I think you and your man should consider becoming bi-regional. And spend your winters in England...and Summers in Norway. :-)
Jazz man: Thanks mate. You're very encouraging. I am suitably chuffed with my pictures. How are you? Busy?
The FABULOUS JEN!!!!!

Excellent. Surprised you don't think I allready dress in this manner though. I did invest in some shoes with spikes on them. (It's true!!! They actually have them out here.) They call them brodder. You can slip them over your shoes before you leave the house, thus preventing one from falling on ones face and making giant ass of oneself.
We have seriously considered spending winter somewhere else. However, England wouldn't be much better. Where Norway is, usually, dry cold with perishing temperatures. England is damp and windy, since it's still considered an island. It is fuh-reezing over there at times. My people have NO idea how to dress properly either. It's very VERY annoying and stoopid.
Ann-Helen and I went out for coffee the other day and spoke of you. This is because you are brilliant Jen. You are lovely and brilliant.
Bless you love.
Yes, I'm a bit busy right n
Only one solution. Come stay with me during winter. It's going to be SUMMER here!!! Believe me, it's our turn. I'm over winter. Love Belinda
Belinda!! Shweeeeedy. Yes - genious plan. I could do that. I'm permanently pastey anyway. A spot of colour would allow people to look at me in a swimsuit without being blinded by my, almost, translusent skin. Actually - it has improved - the older you get, the more a tan will stick to you. You allright love??
I'm off to Oslo now for a conferance, (catch the Fire.) Have a good week.
Hi Katrine!
You make me feel loved K!
Always such kind words.
Next time you and Ann-Helen go out for coffee...maybe you should meet here in Colo Springs! ;-)
AND....fyi- if you like snow but not the frostbite...Colo Springs is actually a good place to be! There's something about being in the valley or something weird that we USUALLY don't get insane winters
Hahaha
The last 4 winters I've been in warmer skies, but now its back to the polar winters of Hamar! I only hope I will have car available this winter so I dont need to bicycle in -28 C!
Nice photos too!
You make me laugh!;) didnt understand evey word you used though!;P
Hei Jon Kristian: Tusen takk. Jeg la igjen en liten hilsen på bloggen din og.
The one living with yankees???
Who is that? VERY curious.
Just felt I also could mention that autumn also brings one closer to the wonderful season of porridge- eating! (since Im living with Yankees and other creatures, and therefore have lost all my sense of decency!!;).)
Katrine.
Stor klem
(og at du viser irritasjon over Eirik er helt berettiget, og ingenting aa skamme seg over)
